Sanchez takes on FNC; FNC strikes back!

Apparently, this guy really does not like Fox News. Competitive envy or is there something more? The three main Hispanics at Fox News are Julie Banderas, Juan Williams, and Geraldo Rivera with plenty of Hispanics serving as Fox News contributors. Banderas responded via twitter:
As a wise Latina woman, I have no comment other than to say…
…if I were Rick Sanchez, I wouldn’t look in the mirror, period.
Ouch! Though, one must question Sanchez’s motives here: Was he ever even offered a a job at Fox News? Is he saying that CNN pays less than FNC, and if so, how does he know? Steve Krauker of Mediaite has some excellent analysis and follow ups regarding this. Many may wonder how Rick Sanchez was able to look into a mirror after this.

CNN’s New Advertisement Takes on Heat
In a recent television advertisement which runs primarily on the CNN channels, the Cable News Network claims it is #1 and growing, and “No. 1, with more viewers than Fox and MSNBC.” If CNN’s intent was to make others cringe, well, it’s doing just that. MSNBC recently asked Nielsen to review CNN’s claim of being #1. A Nielsen spokesman responded:

AOL Poll: Most Trusted Newscaster…O’Reilly #2, Beck #4, Olbermann #8, Maddow #10
In an AOL online poll, readers were asked to vote for their most trusted newscaster. Surprisingly, late night satirical-comedian Jon Stewart of The Daily Show came in as #1 with 29% of the vote. Many cable news hosts made the list.Bill O’Reilly of Fox News came in at #2 with 20% of the vote and his colleague, Glenn Beck, came in at #4 with 9% of the vote. At the bottom of the list were Anderson Cooper (5%) of CNN, Keith Olbermann (3%) of MSNBC, and Rachel Maddow (3%) of MSNBC. We took a snapshot of the results when the counter had recorded 92,259 votes.
David Knowles of PoliticsDaily explains why Stewart wins:
Of course, unscientific polls of this nature should be viewed with suspicion as they propose a false equivalence. Stewart himself employs the “fake-news” adjective to describe his show, and would no doubt bristle at having his work compared directly to the kind of journalism practiced by the other anchors. How serious is this poll? Probably not so much as even Joe the Plumber made the list! Poor Katie Couric (non-cable news anchor) had the least amount of votes (1,690/92,259). See TIME magazine’s poll where Stewart also came in #1. See the results of the AOL poll after the jump… (more…)
Obama Presser 7-22-09: CNN Wins Demo; Fox Wins Total
The White House health care press event with Mr. Obama was held for one hour on Wednesday night at 8PM. HLN was the only cable news network not to cover the event since it’s sister network CNN would take that load (HLN proceeded with Nancy Grace). CNN beat Fox News in capturing the demo audience for the 8PM hour period by 87,000 viewers, however, Fox News beat CNN by almost a million total viewers in that same hour. See below:

Colbert Wants to Be the Worst Person in the World
That someone is none other then Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central who has issued a request to Mr. Olbermann to make him one of the WPITW. Why you might ask? Apparently, he has slapped a baby with a puppy. Now if that doesn’t merit a WPITW award, we don’t know what will. See the request here:

Stunts like this aren’t new for Colbert. Earlier this year, he called for his viewers to vote for his name in an online poll to name the next space station poll after him. Although his name did receive the most submissions, NASA ultimately decided against it. However, all hope was not lost since NASA decided to name the treadmill on the name “C.O.L.B.E.R.T.”
Will Olbermann comply? We will just have to wait and see.
Geraldo places #2…for his mustache
Quite the accomplishment for Geraldo. Mr. Rivera, took the #2 spot on TV Guide’s, “The Best TV Mustaches.” John Stossel of ABC’s 20/20, who recently appeared on The Glenn Beck Program, made it at #8. The caption reads “Geraldo is the Shangri-La of TV mustaches. It takes real guts to have a mustache your entire career. But he knows that if he shaved off his mustache, he might basically become unrecognizable. He’s been dedicated to the mustache for so long. He’s half-Puerto Rican, half-Jewish, but all mustache.” See the entire list below.TV Guide: The Best TV Mustaches:
1. Tom Selleck, Magnum, P.I.
2. Geraldo Rivera
3. Jason Lee, My Name Is Earl
4. Hulk Hogan
5. Rob Reiner, All in the Family
6. Christopher Hewitt, Mr Belevedere
7. Ted Levine, Monk
8. John Stossel, 20/20
9. Alex Trebek, Jeopardy!
10. Ted Lange, The Love Boat
11. Jeffrey Tambor, The Larry Sanders Show
12. Alex Karras, Webster
13. Dennis Franz, NYPD Blue
14. Wilfred Brimley, Our House
15. Roscoe Orman, Sesame Street
16. Dick Van Dyke, Diagnosis Murder
Why is is that most hosts on cable news don’t have mustaches? Olbermann, O’Reilly, Ed Shultz, Hannity, Beck, Matthews, Cooper, Sanchez, John King, Gutfeld, Larry King, Galanos, Hammer? There must be a reason…
Thrills are back! Teleprompter’s whack. MSNBC cracks.
